More than a paycheck

My current gig is with a well-known local nonprofit agency. My job title is "Receptionist/ Executive Assistant," but on any given day I could be performing a plethora of other tasks. I might be conducting job interviews, designing signage for one of our facilities, running payroll, doing A/P and A/R work, or any other tasks that trickle down to me.

Can I just say...I love it.

I adore having every day be different. Sure there are many things that I do, without fail, every day. However, there's always MORE to do or something to help with. I am rarely bored. Well, OK, when I get stuck with a filing project, I get a little cranky...

The best part of this job, as with any job, is the cast of characters I work with. To put it mildly, they are an eclectic group. They one unifying characteristic that they all share is that they love and believe in what they do. I also deal with the public, which is always a trip. Plus, I get to go to groovy things like this every now and then. Yah, hanging with a Kennedy is a pretty typical Thursday night for me.

The nonprofit I work for is involved in green causes and ways to reduce waste through recycling and reusing items. The money, though not spectacular, gets my bills paid OK. The satisfaction I get from a long (and Monday was especially long) day's work is pleasing. From 8-5, I am a busy gal. I work hard, but not that hard. It's all good.
